Donations Are Being Accepted by GYC for Camille's Closet and Theo's Threads

It's time again to think about prom! As we've written about before, Greensboro Youth Council (GYC) collects new or gently-used formalwear for students in need so that they can have something nice to wear to prom in the spring. Of course, since receiving, reviewing, and organizing donations, takes time, this process starts well before prom. In fact, it started this week!

You can donate both clothing and also accessories, like jewelry, belts, and purses.

Here are the donation guidelines:

Items donated must be purchased 2018 or later and follow the guidelines below.

Clothing

All items must be:

-free of stains, snags, rips, and tears

-in good working condition

-include all accents such as beading, laces, buckles, and snaps.

Accessories

Jewelry clasps and backs must be in working condition.

Purse zippers, snaps, and clasps must close.

Items that are tarnished, discolored or that do not meet these guidelines will not be accepted.

There is an especially great need for plus-sized dresses and gowns and big and tall dress shirts and pants.

The donation drive runs from February 13 through March 10th. Kids will be "shopping" March 29-31. Donations can be dropped off at the following locations:

BackPack Beginnings, 3711 Alliance Dr, Greensboro, NC

Dillard’s, 150 Four Seasons Town Center, Greensboro, NC

Greensboro Youth Council, 200 N Davie St #315, Greensboro, NC

Griffin Recreation Center, 5301 Hilltop Rd, Jamestown, NC

Lindley Recreation Center, 2907 Springwood Dr, Greensboro, NC

Peeler Recreation Center, 1300 Sykes Ave, Greensboro, NC
